Ondo Finance Passes $4 Billion in Assets as Demand for Tokenized U.S. Stocks Grows

JD Durkin talks with Matthieu de Vergnes, global head of institutional at Ondo Finance. According to Durkin, Ondo recently passed $4 billion in assets and is now the world’s largest tokenization platform. De Vergnes says the growth comes from giving investors around the world seamless access to U.S. stocks, ETFs and Treasuries with a wallet and an internet connection, in regions where access is often intermediated, fees are higher and market hours do not match local time zones.

De Vergnes says institutional interest in tokenization has shifted over the past 18 months from theoretical innovation strategy to demand driven by businesses on the buy side, the sell side and the infrastructure side. He says tokenized stocks are popular with investors in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America who want to move from holding a stablecoin to investing it 24/7. He adds that Ondo launched portfolios with BlackRock and that institutions are using on-chain stocks and ETFs for products like perpetual futures.

On pre-IPO exposure, de Vergnes says Ondo issues notes that reference private companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI, giving investors outside the U.S. a way to trade exposure on 24/7 venues with secondary markets instead of being locked in.
