Why Consumers Are Still Choosing the Movie Theater Experience

Cinemark is seeing record momentum at the box office as consumers continue turning out for the theatrical moviegoing experience. Chanda Brashears, Senior Vice President of Investor Relations at Cinemark, joins JD Durkin at the New York Stock Exchange to discuss the company’s best ever summer at the domestic box office and what is driving audience enthusiasm.

Brashears says Cinemark also recorded its highest second quarter box office of all time and points to a strong lineup of films across genres that have exceeded expectations. She says the company remains encouraged by the films still ahead this year as well as the slate taking shape for 2027.

The conversation also explores why consumers continue choosing theaters despite having more entertainment options at home. Brashears discusses the experiential economy and how Cinemark is investing in premium formats, motion seats, panoramic screens, recliners, merchandise and expanded food and beverage offerings to make the theater experience stand out.
