The UAE’s Dirham Stablecoin Is Live : Here Is What It Actually Does

Husam Habannakeh, General Manager of DDSC Stablecoin, joins Raghda Ibraheem as one of the UAE’s first officially approved dirham-backed stablecoins goes live, built by AHC International Holding and First Abu Dhabi Bank, running on ADI Chain, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign blockchain.

His message is simple: anywhere you would use dirhams, you can use DDSC. But the ambition stretches from retail and corporate payments to treasury management, cross-border settlement, and eventually machine-to-machine payments for AI agents.

Drawing on his experience leading digital assets at Mastercard across 80 countries, Habannakeh frames what makes DDSC different from the dozens of stablecoins that have come and gone globally. Central Bank backing, institutional trust, and the capital to execute. His timeline for everyday consumer use? Very soon.
