Ronit Ghose on Agentic AI, the Future of Finance, and Why the Gulf Has the Edge

Ronit Ghose, Industry Chair of the Future of Finance, AI Group and MFTA, joins the show to unpack one of the most talked-about shifts in finance right now, agentic AI.

Ghose explains the difference between generative AI, which shows you answers, and agentic AI, which acts on your behalf, think less Super Google, more a personal assistant that books your holiday without being asked twice. He’s clear, though, that when it comes to finance, full autonomy isn’t coming anytime soon. Regulators, compliance, and the very real risk of waking up to an empty bank account mean the near future looks more like assisted finance than self-driving finance.

He also breaks down where banks in the region will feel the change first, from wealth management and client experience to the back-office workflows that currently employ thousands of people. On the Gulf’s competitive position, Ghose points to three converging advantages: a young, digitally native population, bold and tech-forward leadership, and serious capital investment in AI infrastructure.

The conversation closes on the biggest risk of AI in finance, not the one most people expect. Ghose warns that the real danger is herding, where AI models trained in the same places amplify the same biases, creating bubbles faster and at greater scale than any individual investor ever could.
