MENA Mega Rounds Hit a Record but Early Stage Deals Are Down 45%

Philip Bahoshy, Founder and CEO of MAGNiTT, joins Karl Naim at the ADX as the region’s venture capital data platform, which has built MENA’s reference dataset for VC from scratch, reveals the two-speed market hiding behind the headline numbers.

His most striking data point: mega rounds in MENA have already surpassed the total for all of 2025, but early-stage seed deals are down 45%, and the pipeline of today is the pipeline of the future. A 45% drop in seed deals becomes a challenge for the next evolution of the ecosystem in two to three years.

On the five pressure points his report identified earlier this year, pipeline, late-stage capital scarcity, exit liquidity challenges, slowdown in M&A, and international investor attraction, his read is grounded and honest: sovereigns have been fuelling the ecosystem, but international investor caution means later-stage deals are increasingly relying on local capital, and IPOs have been few and far between.
