JD Durkin: Joining me now, not just an amazing guest, but an amazing guest who just rang the closing bell. Say hello to Vince Tizzio, president and CEO at AXIS Capital. Nice to see you here. Vince, thanks for taking time for us. Congratulations.
Vince Tizzio: Thank you so much. Nice to be with you.
JD Durkin: For anyone a bit unfamiliar, let’s start, first and foremost, with ringing the closing bell down here today. What brought you and your team back here to the big board?
Vince Tizzio: This special occasion is us celebrating our 25th anniversary. And it’s more than a momentous occasion for us. It’s an exciting time, and we’re really gratified by it.
JD Durkin: AXIS was founded in the aftermath of the events of September 11th to cover risks that really very few, if anyone else in your industry, would. How does that origin story still shape the priorities of the company today?
Vince Tizzio: Yeah. The guiding principles of solving clients’ problems wherever they are, bringing risk transfer capabilities with specialists to help them find the best solution, is still our objective. And we’re really proud of the work that we do.
JD Durkin: For people who don’t track too closely the ins and outs of specialty insurance, what would you say are among the top trends in that space that have emerged here in 2026, and any surprises for your industry?
Vince Tizzio: Well, the dynamic nature and the interrelated relationship of risk. If you think about cyber, energy, and climate, these are things that we focus on all of the time, and we bring insurance solutions to solve clients’ problems around the world.
JD Durkin: What are the top questions clients come to you with? Because, yeah, you just mentioned it. These are new, splashy, kind of untested technologies. They’re first on the radar of a lot of these clients. I’ve got to imagine they’re coming to you with a lot of questions as they’re trying to become smarter about what all this means for them.
Vince Tizzio: Yeah, they’re entertaining different ways of structuring their insurance programs. How do technology and data help them inform their risk transfer decisions? And ultimately, what is the stability of our balance sheet to meet their needs?
JD Durkin: I have no doubt you and the team from AXIS are cooking on a lot of things you can’t yet quite reveal. But give me some sense under the hood. Could be the rest of Q4 2026. What lies ahead on the road for the team, for you?
Vince Tizzio: Given what’s going on in the geopolitical landscape, we’re being called upon to solve problems for marine, marine war. You’ve heard us speak about it in the past. The global transition around energy, climate change. We’re a very busy organization, solving a lot of people’s problems.
JD Durkin: And I’ve got to say, I don’t frequently get to interview someone who comes from a company where, when the market is down more than 1%, shares today are up 1.7.
Vince Tizzio: Nice day today. Yes, we like it.
JD Durkin: That’s really an honor. Thank you so much for joining us. President and CEO at AXIS Capital.
