Algorand’s Amar Odedra on Why Post-Quantum Security Cannot Wait

Amar Odedra, Chief Commercial Officer at Algorand, joins Karl Naim at the ADX as the IMF reveals that over 50% of US stocks traded on-chain happen outside Wall Street trading hours, rising above 80% for high-volume stocks like Apple and Tesla, and the quantum computing threat to blockchain cryptography becomes an urgent rather than theoretical concern.

His most striking data point is on quantum: Google’s estimates earlier this year put the qubits needed to break classical elliptic curve cryptography at 500,000. Last month, a design was released requiring only 20,000. On why institutional liquidity matters more than tokenisation itself, his answer is precise: institutions will not place a $5 million order if the market moves against them because of it. That is why Algorand brought Flow Traders on board, a regulated, listed traditional market maker and one of the largest ETF liquidity providers globally, to deepen the order book and tighten spreads.
