Stocks Bounce Back as Investors Watch Volatility

U.S. stock futures are pointing to a slightly higher open after weakness in the previous session, as investors prepare for a busy week of economic data and Federal Reserve speeches. FinTech TV correspondent Mark Payton joins Remy Blaire live from the Cboe trading floor in Chicago to break down the latest pre market activity.

Payton says the VIX is around 15.8, down about 1.7% from the previous close, signaling that options markets are pricing in slightly less expected movement. He explains that the VIX measures expected volatility rather than predicting whether stocks will rise or fall.

Investors are also watching the Russell 2000 for clues about participation from small cap stocks. Payton says a combination of stronger S&P 500 futures, broader small cap participation and continued easing in the VIX could point to a calmer start to the trading session.

Oil prices and Treasury yields remain key factors for investors as the market heads toward the opening bell, with economic data and upcoming Fed commentary also expected to influence trading throughout the day.
