Wall Street Braces for Inflation Data as VIX Jumps

Wall Street is gearing up for a crucial week of inflation data as investors assess the outlook for Federal Reserve policy and market volatility. The VIX is moving higher, while September’s historically challenging market performance is prompting traders to consider additional downside protection.

Options activity is also putting the spotlight on major technology earnings. Oracle options are pricing in an expected move of around 11% following Thursday’s results, with traders showing strong interest in upside calls. JJ Kinahan, Senior Vice President, Cboe Global Markets says the positioning reflects growing optimism around Oracle’s AI investments and, more importantly, whether those investments are delivering meaningful returns.

Adobe is also seeing increased call activity ahead of its earnings report, with options pricing in roughly a 5% move. Despite recent market weakness, traders continue to favor upside exposure in both stocks, highlighting the continued appetite for buying the dip and positioning for strong technology earnings.
