Meet the Kanoo Brothers Building the Gulf’s Next Cross-Border Payment Infrastructure

Gulf-Asia trade hit $516 billion last year. The payment infrastructure moving money across those corridors has not kept up, and twin brothers Abdulaziz and Abdulla Kanoo, Co-Founders of ARP Digital, built their company around exactly that gap.

Fresh off receiving their VARA license in Dubai, they join Raghda Ibraheem with a precise diagnosis: Southeast Asia, China, and Hong Kong each operate under completely different regulatory and compliance frameworks, with no standardisation between them. A provider trying to bridge those markets cannot be a generalist, it needs to understand the nuances of every market on both sides, and build product around actual client feedback rather than assumed pain points.

On who is being left behind by the current system, their answer is SMEs. Larger firms are well served by banks. SMEs get exchange houses or basic transfer services built for retail speed, not business needs. Their bet: build purpose-built rails for corporates, integrated invoicing, compliance-aligned transfers, and transparent fee structures, and the demand is already there waiting.
