The crypto market kicked off the week with strong momentum as prediction markets exploded to record highs during the FIFA World Cup. Platforms including Kalshi, Polymarket, and newcomer Rothera processed tens of billions of dollars in trading volume, highlighting the growing demand for regulated event-based markets and the increasing overlap between sports, finance, and digital assets.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin rallied over the U.S. holiday weekend, climbing back to $63,000 and recovering its late-June losses. XRP outperformed the major cryptocurrencies, surging more than 5% on the day and nearly 10% for the week, overtaking USDC to become the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
Adoption also continues to accelerate globally. Germany’s major banks are preparing to offer crypto trading directly to retail customers, a move that could bring millions of new investors into digital assets. At the same time, the Bank of Russia says it is ready to expand the rollout of the digital ruble while also exploring the use of stablecoins for international settlements, signaling that governments and financial institutions continue to deepen their involvement in blockchain-based finance.
