Why Institutional Demand for Tokenization Is Accelerating

Institutional demand for tokenization is accelerating as asset managers look to bring everything from Treasuries to equities on chain. Brendan Ma, Head of Investment Strategy at the Arbitrum Foundation, joins JD Durkin to discuss why large institutions are continuing to build despite regulatory uncertainty and what is driving demand for tokenized financial assets.

Ma says institutional interest is already well underway and argues that demand is continuing regardless of developments in the regulatory environment. He discusses Arbitrum’s goal of supporting 24 hour markets with instant settlement and explains why the infrastructure behind tokenization will become increasingly important as more financial assets move on chain.

The conversation also explores Robinhood’s use of Arbitrum technology and the revenue flowing back to the Arbitrum ecosystem. Ma says revenue across the ecosystem over the past 30 days has reached five times the monthly average seen during the second quarter and points to Arbitrum becoming the first blockchain to reach 5,000 tokenized real world assets as evidence of the growing trend.
