Ridgeline Raises $250 Million to Build the AI-Native Investment Firm

Investment firms have spent decades adding more people and more software as assets and client relationships grow. Ridgeline CEO Dave Blair says artificial intelligence could change that equation by automating repeatable work and giving employees more capacity to focus on investments, strategy and clients.

Blair joins Kristin Myers after Ridgeline raised $250 million at a valuation of nearly $1.5 billion. He explains how the company plans to invest in AI, expand into Canada and Europe, and continue building its cloud-based platform for investment managers. Ridgeline’s approach centers on a unified data foundation designed to give AI context across trading, accounting, performance, reporting and client relationships.

The conversation also tackles what an “AI-native” investment firm could actually look like. Blair argues AI can take over mundane tasks such as reconciliation without eliminating the human judgment behind investment decisions and client relationships. As AI moves deeper into investment workflows, he says accuracy, auditability, guardrails and human oversight remain critical.

Blair also discusses the possibility of increasingly automated investment firms and whether AI models could eventually provide oversight of other AI systems. Looking further ahead, he says taking Ridgeline public is “definitely the goal,” though the timing will depend on the company’s execution and market conditions.
