Oracle’s Investor Day Makes the Case That AI Demand Is Real

Oracle used its investor day to reaffirm a target of $225 billion in total revenue by fiscal 2030 and fiscal 2027 guidance of at least $90 billion, while laying out a timeline for capital spending to peak over the next two cycles before stepping down in fiscal 2029, with free cash flow expected to turn positive in the second half of fiscal 2028. Remy Blaire speaks with Ron Westfall, VP and practice leader for infrastructure and networking at HyperFRAME Research, about Oracle’s outlook, its funding plans, and the state of the hyperscalers.

Westfall says Oracle has firmly established itself as a top-tier hyperscaler and believes it can execute on its growth targets, pointing to $664 billion in remaining performance obligations, with at least $80 billion expected to be recognized in the coming year. He calls concerns about an AI bubble overstated, saying enterprises are already implementing conversational and agentic AI. On funding, he says Oracle is playing it smart by capping incremental capital market financing at $20 billion through fiscal 2030, split between $10 billion in equity and $10 billion in gross debt, with customer prepayments, customer-provided hardware, and vendor financing helping soften upfront cash outlays.

Westfall expects Oracle’s growth to come from across the board, with AI workloads increasingly shifting toward inferencing at the edge and hybrid cloud deployments, which he says positions Oracle well through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and applications like its Fusion suite. Addressing the Friday selloff in tech, he calls Intel a unique case because of its foundry business and describes Alphabet’s decline as a hiccup tied to profit-taking. He says hyperscaler capital spending is already massive, that the AI data center market could reach $800 billion by 2030, and that backlogs of more than half a trillion dollars show demand is not drying up.
