Midterms Are Behind Us, and This Strategist Is Bullish Into Year-End

U.S. stocks are surging as Democrats take back control of the House and the Senate, with the Dow rallying over 1,500 points. Remy Blaire talks with Paisley Nardi, head of investment strategy at Tema ETFs, about what changed for the AI trade. Nardi says the Democratic sweep was largely expected, and that the pressure around the AI data center build-out is what the market is working through. She notes that some data center moratoriums, including in Texas, where she says 25% of expected build-outs are taking place, have been in place for months, and says she expects a slower build-out and that today’s reaction in those stocks is a bit of an overreaction.

Nardi says that under the surface, earnings growth is accelerating for the other 493 stocks in the S&P 500 while decelerating for some of the Mag Seven, which she says suggests the recent rotation away from tech is driven by strong fundamentals and not only a defensive bid. On Anthropic, she says Tema is excited about the upcoming IPO, points to the latest S-1 showing a broader customer base, with 80% of customers outside the top five, and expects a bumpy road after a deceleration in profits.

Looking ahead, Nardi says she is quite bullish heading into year-end and early 2027, citing the Santa Claus rally, broadening earnings, and the midterms uncertainty being behind us, with volatility, rates, and oil all down. She says consumer sentiment is bearish on affordability, but that negative sentiment can be a contrarian signal, and she sees tech’s valuations as a constructive buying opportunity.
