What the US Midterms Mean for the Dollar, Oil and the Gulf

Kevin Ford, FX and Macro Strategist at Convera, joins Johny Fernandez at the NYSE on the eve of the US midterm elections to explain how currency markets are positioned and what is already priced in for the dollar. He looks at how the result could move oil, through both the dollar and US policy towards Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, and what Brent at current levels means for Gulf government revenue. He also explains why Gulf central banks have little room to move away from the Fed because of their currency pegs, and gives businesses trading between the US and the Gulf a practical way to think about hedging.
