How On Chain Credit Can Stay Safe After the Binance Hack

Cooper Emmons, CEO of Ibis, joins Johny Fernandez in the week his frontier credit platform launches with $250 million in credit from FalconX, and the same week Binance was hit by a hack of about $6.3 billion.

Does a hack this big make investors nervous about lending in crypto? Absolutely, he says, because counterparty risk is something institutional allocators always have to underwrite. Ibis answers that with 24/7 monitoring and by giving borrowers access to custodians such as Anchorage Digital, which let trading firms keep assets off exchanges.

He argues blockchain fixes what he calls opaque, slow private credit, with round the clock pricing, automated reporting and faster liquidity. And he sees the hack as a wake up call for all of finance, including Wall Street, not just crypto.
