Why High Treasury Yields Aren’t Just About Inflation

A softer than expected jobs report is reshaping expectations for the Federal Reserve as Treasury yields remain elevated and technology stocks continue to outperform. Natalia Lojevsky, Managing Director and Head of Wealth Solutions at CIFC Asset Management, joins Remy Blaire to discuss why risks remain two sided as markets head deeper into the final quarter of 2026.

Lojevsky says the softer labor data likely takes an October rate hike off the table, but argues that moves in longer term yields are being driven by more than inflation. She points to geopolitical uncertainty, growing sovereign and corporate debt supply and rising term premium as forces influencing the bond market. Meanwhile, strong earnings continue to support large cap technology and hyperscalers even as the cost of capital rises.

Looking toward year end, Lojevsky emphasizes selectivity rather than making large directional bets. She highlights pressure on rate sensitive areas such as housing and businesses exposed to weaker consumers, while pointing to front end floating rate, higher quality assets such as senior secured loans as one approach to navigating rate volatility. Ultimately, she says earnings and geopolitical developments remain key factors to watch through the remainder of the year.
