The AI and Crypto Trades Are Entering a New Phase

Micron’s latest results are reinforcing the scale of the AI buildout, but Stephen McBride, Co-Founder and Chief Analyst at RiskHedge, says the next phase of the AI trade could extend beyond infrastructure. He joins Remy Blaire to discuss why investors may increasingly focus on businesses capable of generating sustainable value from AI, including applications and cybersecurity.

McBride argues that cybersecurity remains a major long-term megatrend as AI creates new security risks and drives companies to increase spending on protection. He says identifying disruptive trends is only part of the investment equation, with the underlying businesses ultimately needing to translate those trends into sustainable profits.

The conversation also turns to crypto, where McBride says revenue is increasingly being generated by protocols with real products and businesses. After reviewing more than 1,300 crypto firms, he discusses why regulatory uncertainty can prevent fee-generating tokens from returning revenue to holders and why protocols that successfully share revenue with users could become an increasingly important part of the digital asset market.
