Crypto Regulation Is Shifting From Congress to the Regulators

The crypto industry is increasingly looking to U.S. regulators for clarity after the CLARITY Act failed to advance in Congress. Kristin Smith, President of the Solana Policy Institute, joins Remy Blaire to discuss why she believes the industry is still moving toward the regulatory framework it needs despite the legislative setback.

Smith points to ongoing action from the SEC and CFTC, including developments around tokenized securities, as signs of progress. She explains why getting regulatory processes underway and rules finalized could be critical for creating a more durable framework while giving companies an opportunity to begin building and operating under clearer rules.

Smith also discusses growing interest in blockchain and digital assets among traditional financial institutions and asset allocators. She argues that digital assets are reaching an inflection point as regulation catches up with the technology and institutions become more comfortable exploring blockchain, tokenized securities and the broader crypto ecosystem.
