Moyasar Owns 23% of Saudi Online Payments, and Is Now Expanding Across the GCC

Nadine Jaffar, Chief Business Officer at Moyasar, joins Raghda Ibraheem at Money 20/20 Middle East Riyadh as the Saudi-born payments company, with over 11 years in market and 23% of all Saudi online transactions, begins its GCC expansion, starting with Bahrain and the UAE.

Her most important point from a roundtable she attended cuts through the AI hype: she is all for using AI as a tool that compresses timelines, what took six months can now take six weeks. But she draws a firm line at AI eliminating the human role entirely. Interpersonal relationships, empathy, and the genuine connection in a conversation are things AI can follow instructions about but cannot replace.

On what the GCC can learn from Europe’s regulatory model, her case is clear: a portable licence across the entire GCC, the way MiCA works across Europe, would unlock fintech growth at a pace the region has not yet seen. The collaboration needs to loosen, not the regulation.
