AI’s Power Demand Is Reshaping the Hydrogen Equation

As Climate Week NYC puts the focus on industrial decarbonization, rising electricity demand from artificial intelligence is creating another challenge for the global energy system. Parker Meeks, CEO and President of Utility Global, joins Remy Blaire to discuss why growing power demand could reshape how heavy industries approach hydrogen and decarbonization.

Meeks explains how Utility Global’s technology is designed to produce hydrogen without electricity by using gases already available within industrial facilities. The approach can integrate with existing steel mills and refineries, with Meeks saying it can help industrial customers reduce emissions without adding a green premium to the cost of their products.

Looking ahead, Meeks sees significant opportunities across Asia and Europe, particularly in steel, refining and chemicals. He also discusses why technologies that can deliver economic value without depending on subsidies may be better positioned to navigate changing regulatory environments.
