Why Energy Stocks Are Gaining Ground in MarketGrader’s Latest Rebalance

Bitcoin ETF flows are back in focus as Bitcoin trades above $85,000 and investors watch whether renewed demand can support the latest rally. The iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, has attracted nearly $3 billion in the past month, while spot Bitcoin ETFs brought in more than $433 million on Friday alone. The key question is whether sustained ETF inflows will confirm that fresh capital is entering the market.

Carlos Diez, Founder and CEO of MarketGrader, joins the discussion on the latest opportunities in the energy sector. MarketGrader’s fundamental screens point to strong conditions across energy, with its Baron 400 index increasing its allocation to the sector to the highest level in more than two years. The latest rebalance added 11 energy companies, bringing the total to 34, including refiners and natural gas companies.

Diez says the energy story extends beyond short term oil price movements and is increasingly tied to energy security and resilience. He points to strong earnings, revenue growth, net income growth and margins across parts of the sector, while highlighting the strategic importance of natural gas and US refining capacity.

The discussion also looks at individual companies identified by MarketGrader, including Chevron, Occidental Petroleum, ConocoPhillips, Marathon Petroleum, Valero and Venture Global. Diez also highlights USA Compression Partners as a company positioned to benefit from natural gas demand, data center expansion and the broader AI infrastructure buildout.

Beyond energy, Diez says corporate earnings are showing broad participation across the U.S market. Financials, industrials and technology remain among the largest sectors in the Baron 400, while materials and energy are also contributing to a broader earnings story. He says the impact of AI is extending beyond semiconductors and major technology companies, with productivity gains supporting growth across multiple industries.
